Worst case buffer clearing time. -- This is the delay after a set of shots before you can remove the card. Some cameras won't retract their lenses and shut down until the buffer is cleared. |

The FinePix F470's performance ranges from pretty good to average here. Shutter response is quite good at both wide angle and telephoto, and "prefocusing" the camera by half-pressing and holding down the shutter button before the final exposure results in a fast time as well. Shot to shot cycle times are average, at about 1.87 seconds for large/fine JPEGs, and it can capture up to eight shots this quickly before it has to slow down and wait for the memory card to catch up. Continuous-mode speed is also about average, at about 1.64 frames/second, for up to five large/fine shots in succession. The flash takes about 4.6 seconds to recharge after a full-power shot, once again about average. Connected to a computer, download speeds are fast enough that you probably won't feel a need for a separate card reader. While the FinePix F470 probably isn't a first pick for sports or high-action photography, it's definitely capable of average family and travel shooting needs.
Battery and Storage Capacity
Battery
Moderate battery life.
| LiIon rechargeable Battery | 200 |
The Fujifilm FinePix F470 uses a custom rechargeable LiIon battery for power. The table above shows the number of shots the camera is capable of, based on CIPA battery-life standard test conditions. Given the modest run time, you should definitely consider purchasing a second battery to pack along on extended outings.

Storage
The FinePix F470 includes 16MB of internal memory.
16MB Memory |
Fine | Normal | |
| 2,816 x 2,112 | Images | 5 | 10 |
| File Size | 2.9 MB | 1.5 MB | |
| 2,048 x 1,536 | Images | - | 20 |
| File Size | - | 785 KB | |
| 1,600 x 1,200 | Images | - | 25 |
| File Size | - | 625 KB | |
| 640 x 480 | Images | - | 124 |
| File Size | - | 128 KB | |
I strongly recommend buying at least a 128MB card, preferably a 256MB one, to give yourself extra space for extended outings.
