Closely related to several of the company's other recent S-series digital cameras, the Samsung Digimax S1000 has a sensor resolution of ten megapixels coupled to a Samsung SHD-branded 35 - 105mm-equivalent 3x optical zoom lens. This provides a fairly standard zoom range from a moderate wide angle to a moderate telephoto, with maximum aperture varying from a fair F2.8 at wide angle to a rather dim F5.1 at telephoto. Macro focusing is to a minimum of four centimeters at wide angle.
The Samsung S1000 also features a larger than average 2.5" LCD display with 230,000 pixels, USB 2.0 High-Speed connectivity, 45MB of built-in memory, a minimum ISO sensitivity of 80, shutter speeds from 8 - 1/1500 second, a fixed 4:3 aspect ratio, a maximum of 10x digital zoom and 14.4x playback zoom, and an MPEG-4 movie mode. Other features include multi and spot exposure metering, seven white balance modes, ten scene modes, and a five-mode built in flash. Samsung's Digimax S1000 stores images on Secure Digital cards or the previously mentioned built-in memory. Power comes courtesy of AA batteries (with alkaline disposables in the product bundles), and the included software is Samsung Digimax Master.
The Samsung S1000 digital camera ships from August 2006 priced at $350.
