Review posted for Olympus SP-560 UltraZoom!
Outfitted with a slightly wider lens, more resolution, and better image quality, the Olympus SP-560UZ is a hot little digital camera that earns the name Ultra Zoom in a big way. With wide angle lenses such a rare commodity, it's interesting that Olympus took the extra step of making the SP-560's lens even wider than its predecessor, going from 28mm down to 27mm equivalent. That decreased its maximum telephoto focal length to 486mm, but it's clearly worth the tradeoff. No long zoom digital camera would be complete without some kind of mechanical image stabilization, and the Olympus SP-560's sensor-shift variety works pretty well. The Olympus SP-560 also has Face detection, shadow adjustment, guide mode, and can take up to 380 shots on four AA alkaline batteries. Not bad. We found the highest ISO settings somewhat unusable, but the lower ISOs are quite good. There's a lot more to tell about the well-designed Olympus SP-560 UZ digital camera, so click here to see our review!

Review posted for Pentax Optio T30!
The Pentax Optio T30 is an attractive ultra-compact with face-detect autofocus and auto exposure in Portrait mode, plus a Manual Focus mode. The most unusual thing about the Pentax T30 is its 3-inch touchscreen. With the included stylus, you can actually annotate your images right on the Pentax T30's touchscreen, which can be quite addictive. We all found the touchscreen menu system to be more responsive than many button-based cameras, but we had a hard time finding certain oft-used items that were buried in unexpected places. See our review of the Pentax Optio T30 for more.

Review posted for Canon PowerShot G9!
The Canon G9 is the latest in one of the most famous product lines in the digicam industry, stretching all the way back to the original G1 first introduced in the Fall of 2000. The most recent G7 model drifted from its enthusiast-oriented roots a little bit, dropping RAW file capability, but that's been restored in the new G9. Veritably bursting with features, the Canon PowerShot G9 delivers great image quality and loads of flexibility in a compact but solid body. There's way too much to talk about to even hit the highlights in this brief notice, get on over to our Canon G9 Review for all the details: We think this one's going to be under a lot of trees this Christmas!

More test images from Nikon D300 posted!
As promised, more Nikon D300 test shots have been posted today, including our Still Life and Low Light series. See the Samples tab in our Nikon D300 Preview. (Apologies for some of the low light shots, the camera appears to have front-focused a little bit. We'll look into reshooting those after the Thanksgiving holidays.)

First test images from Nikon D300 posted!
Wouldn't you know it, our full production sample of the Nikon D300 arrived right in the middle of digicam "crazy season" for us, and also right as we're all getting ready to take off for the Thanksgiving holiday here in the US. We did get a couple of our standard shots taken with the Nikon D300 today (thanks to Luke for the extra push), and we should have another batch of test images shot with it tomorrow, including our Still Life test, which will show a variety of things, including color rendition, tone-on-tone rendering vs noise reduction, fine detail, highlight handling, and shadow detail and noise levels. We should have the complete set of D300 test images shot and uploaded by the the end of the day Friday, and image analysis posted sometime next week, hopefully early in the week. No question, this is one of the most anticipated cameras of the year, check out the images in our Nikon D300 Preview to see for yourself how it's looking thus far.

Review posted for Canon PowerShot SD950 IS!
Canon's PowerShot SD950 IS is blessed with image stabilization, a longer zoom lens, and a stunning 12.1-megapixel sensor. We're not usually impressed with increased pixel counts, but Canon tweaked both optical and image quality to handle the higher resolution and output impressive 16x20-inch images from the Canon SD950 IS that frankly blew us away. A new 3.7x lens graces the Canon SD950 IS, offering just a little extra reach; the bright 2.5-inch color LCD monitor is excellent for framing and reviewing shots; and the overall design and layout of the Canon SD950 is user-friendly and hassle-free. If you're looking for a good, take-anywhere camera with great versatility, good color and tonality, and striking printed output, the Canon SD950 IS deserves a very close look. Express Review posted for Pentax Optio M40!
With an excellent build and a good set of features, the Pentax Optio M40 seems like a great little ultra-slim pocket digital camera at a low price. It has face recognition, object tracking, excellent prefocus shutter lag, good color rendition, and laudable exposure accuracy. Unfortunately, the Pentax M40 doesn't deliver the necessary optical quality to deliver better than 4x6-inch prints, despite its 8.0-megapixel resolution. Anything larger will suffer from a fishbowl effect in the corners, where images don't just blur, they smear. It's a shame, because to hold the Pentax M40 is to want to love it. Now that they seem to have improved their sensors, we're hoping they'll apply the high quality optics we see in their SLRs to their point-and-shoot digital cameras. Full sample images and test results posted for Olympus E-3 SLR!
We've just gotten our hands on a production sample of the new pro-oriented Olympus E-3 SLR. The lab guys have been busy shooting with it, so we're able to bring you a complete set of test shots and analysis just in time, before it hits the stores here in the US. We'll have our usual Imatest results to post a bit later (another day or so?), as well as a write-up on its controls and menu options. Meanwhile though, enjoy our test results in our Olympus E-3 Review!

Review posted for Canon PowerShot A720 IS!
Canon seems to offer a digital camera for every kind of customer, and the Canon A720 IS was made for those who want all the performance at a low price. With an 8-megapixel sensor, a 6x zoom, optical image stabilization, face detection, high ISO, and both a 2.5-inch LCD and an optical viewfinder, the Canon A720 IS has just about everything. Minor compromises are the low-resolution LCD and a slow flash-recharge cycle. The Canon A720's excellence is in the lens: While it's a 6x zoom, it is impressively sharp in the corners, and chromatic aberration is kept relatively low. As a result low ISO images from the Canon A720 print well at 13x19 inches, and even ISO 1,600 shots are usable at 4x6. Good shot-to-shot times and good shutter lag numbers mean that the Canon A720 will be a good no-nonsense digital camera for kids and pets, one that will double as a good video camera with 640x480 recording at 30fps. Review posted for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H3!
Sony has developed a knack for packing a lot of high-end value in the entry-level model of each of their digital camera lines. In the long-zoom H-Series, the Sony H3 continues that trend with a 10x optical zoom, Advanced Sports mode, a Bionz processor, face detection technology, High ISO, Super SteadyShot, in-camera editing, and HD output signal. Gone is the electronic viewfinder found on the other H-series digital cameras, and the Sony H3's LCD has shrunk from 3.0 to 2.5 inches. That, along with a move to lithium-ion power from AA power, makes the Sony Cyber-shot H3 a much smaller camera. The real appeal of the Sony H3, though, is its image output quality: ISO 100 shots look great at 13x19, and even ISO 400 shots look good at 11x14. A good candidate as the enthusiast's second camera, the Sony H3's fast shutter, 10x zoom, and image stabilization make it a great digital camera for anyone looking for a little more quality in a small, long zoom package. Express Review posted for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W200!
Sony's Cyber-shot W200 is among the few 12-megapixel pocket digital cameras on the market, and is of surprisingly good quality, consistent with the W-series. Though not as slim as the T-series, the Sony W200 is still quite small and pocket-friendly. The Sony W200's 2.5-inch LCD, 3x zoom, and lithium-ion battery are standard fare, but its Super SteadyShot optical image stabilization and face detection make it a good contender in the digital camera market regardless of size. Image quality was good, though the highest ISO of 3,200 was really not that usable except as a small Web image. Noise suppression prevents the Sony W200's ISO 100 output from achieving 13x19-inch prints, but 11x14's are good. For the size, the Sony W200 turns in a good performance. Review posted for Canon PowerShot SD870 IS!
For those who love photography, it's the Canon SD870 IS in particular that stands out among Canon's current digital ELPH pocket cameras. Sure, the Canon SD870 has a big 3-inch LCD screen, optical image stabilization, face detection, and high ISO; all the current "must-have" features are there. But the Canon SD870 IS is most appealing for its 28 - 105mm lens. Finding any digital camera with a wide angle view of the world is rare no matter what size camera you choose, but finding one that you can slip into your pocket: now that's a rare gem. Though the Canon SD870 IS exhibits a little more distortion than normal at wide angle than the 35mm lenses on most pocket digital cameras, it's more surprising how little corner softening there is. It seems to be pushed out to where it affects only the far corners, with the rest of the Canon SD870's image relatively sharp. To sweeten the deal the Canon SD870 IS's 8-megapixel sensor serves up images that print well at 11x14 inches from ISO 80 to 400; and even the ISO 1,600 images make a good 4x6. You'll find more of what you want from a digital camera in the Canon SD870 IS, a great pocket digital camera for people who know the value of a wide-angle lens, and don't mind a 3-inch LCD and image stabilization thrown into the mix. Click here for the review of the Canon PowerShot SD870 IS.

Express Review posted for Kodak EasyShare V1003!
Kodak's attractive V-Series cameras are all about style at a low price. The 10-megapixel Kodak V1003 comes in a smooth rounded package available in many colors. The Kodak V1003's 2.5-inch LCD and 3x zoom are pretty common among pocket digital cameras. Not only can you pick your color, but you get 10-megapixel sensor with Kodak's Color Science image processor, a 3x optical zoom, Kodak's Perfect Touch technology for in-camera image editing, and an anti-blur mode. Add a nice Macro mode and ISO sensitivity as high as 1600, and the Kodak EasyShare V1003 starts to look pretty appealing. We found the shutter lag to be a little long, making this style-cam a little less appealing for those wanting to catch the kids a play, but if most of your shots are posed, or of still subjects, the Kodak V1003's overall performance is pretty good, and high ISO images are usable at 4x6. Click to read more about the Kodak V1003.
