Fuji JZ250, JZ100: Two long-zoom peas in a pod
posted Thursday, January 5, 2012 at 1:11 AM EDT
Rounding out its long zoom camera announcements for the day, Fujifilm has taken the wraps off the Fuji JZ250 and Fuji JZ100, a duo of long-zoom cameras that look near-indistinguishable when seen from in front, although the JZ100 seems to be a tad bit slimmer on the top deck.
The Fuji JZ100 is the more affordable of the two, priced at US$130 and available from March 2012. Sensor resolution is 14 megapixels, although Fuji has yet to identify whether this is from a CCD or CMOS image sensor, while a Fujinon-branded 8x optical zoom lens yields a 25mm wide angle. Power comes from a lithium ion battery pack, and there's a 2.7-inch LCD panel on the rear of the camera.
The Fuji JZ250 boosts resolution to 16 megapixels from a CCD image sensor, and keeps the same lens. Explaining the slight difference in rear-panel profile, however, the JZ250 has a larger 3.0-inch LCD panel. Like it's sibling, power comes from a lithium ion rechargeable battery. Pricing for the Fuji JZ250 is set at about US$150, with availability from March 2012.
