Leaf launches Credo camera back series

Last January, Phase One combined its medium format camera brands Mamiya and Leaf, to create a new global entity: Mamiya Leaf. Both companies had already been cooperating for some time, and now the first product line of the combined Mamiya Leaf takes that cooperation a step further.
The Leaf Credo camera back series is designed for use with the Mamiya 645DF camera body. Three models will be available this June: a 40 megapixel back for about US$19,500, a 60 megapixel back for $32,500, or an 80 megapixel back for $39,000.
All three are based around CCD image sensors. The Credo 40 and 60 both have a six micron pixel size, and the Credo 80 has a smaller 5.2 micron pixel, despite the largest sensor size of the group at 53.7 x 40.4mm. The Credo 40 and 60 are capable of up to a one minute exposure at ISO 50-800 sensitivity, while the Credo 80 has a wider ISO 35-800 range and two minute maximum exposure time. With the least data to handle, the Credo 40 is the fastest at some 1.2 frames per second; the Credo 60 and Credo 80 trail at 1.0 and 0.7 frames per second respectively; a dual-core processor is required to achieve these speeds.

The trio all share a touch screen display with 1,150,000 dot resolution, equating to roughly an 800 x 480 pixel array with red, green and blue dots at each pixel location. The touch screen panel extends beyond the edges of the screen, allowing control of the user interface without obscuring the image. Connectivity includes FireWire 800 and USB 3.

Key platform features include:

Planned from the ground-up for comfortable, effective shooting both indoors and out, Leaf Credo delivers high-resolution Live View functionality for precise focusing when shooting un-tethered. It also offers a wide viewing angle and a built-in bi-directional spirit level.
The flagship of the Leaf Credo platform is a full-frame 80 MP CCD sensor with a dynamic range of 12.5 f-stops. New to Mamiya Leaf is a full frame 60 MP CCD sensor with 3:4 aspect ratio providing unmatched detail, richness of color, low noise and beautiful tonality. Also available is the 40 MP CCD sensor which offers the fastest capture speed in the Leaf Credo platform at 1.2 frames per second.
Leaf Credo digital backs work seamlessly with the Mamiya 645DF camera — which offers shutter speeds up to 1/4000 of a second and sync speeds of up to 1/1600 of a second with Schneider-Kreuznach designed Leaf shutter lenses.
The Mamiya Leaf open platform philosophy enables compatibility with other medium format camera bodies, such as the Hasselblad V and H and Contax (see www.mamiyaleaf.com for full compatibility list).
Leaf Credo digital backs are optimized for shooting with Capture One software, which comprises a comprehensive workflow to capture, organize, edit, share and print images.
