A British photographer has won the title of "Travel Photographer of the Year" for what contest organizers describe as his captivating images of "wet, miserable, dank weather."

How very British of him!

Seriously though, Craig Easton's visually compelling images (such as the first image below) won the Cutty Sark Award in the "Travel Photographer of the Year," contest, which was sponsored by Cutty Sark Blended Scotch Whisky, netting the Brit over US$4,000 in prize money along with an international photography commission worth US$4,000.

The contest received entries from 92 different countries and winners ran the gamut from Poland to Indonesia to one young photographer, 15-year old Samuel Fisch of the United States, who won the Young Travel Photographer of the Year award. See Fisch's photo at the bottom of the page.
