Wacom teases high-def, mobile pen tablet aimed at creative use

Good news could be on the way for photographers, if a pledge on the official Facebook page of graphics tablet maker Wacom is anything to go by. The company has revealed that it is working on a tablet computer, and while little information is available so far, we're doubtless not alone in hoping for a product that's conducive to photo editing in the field. (Imagine the possibilities of something like Wacom's Cintiq pen display series, but as a handheld, go-anywhere device!)

Wacom has cooperated with others for tablets in the past, with its digitizers appearing in the likes of Samsung's Galaxy Note series and Microsoft's Surface Pro, but this would be the company's first in-house tablet device. (And, we believe, the first to be aimed specifically at creatives.)

Here's what we do know, so far. The as-yet unnamed device is slated to debut this summer, and Wacom states that it will include a high-definition display, pressure-sensitive pen, multi-touch support, and some "valuable features that you haven’t seen in other tablets". Color us intrigued!
