A new ring light hails from China, and it's called the Amaran Halo AHL-H100. Made by Aputure, the LED ring light combines a flash and a continuous light in one device. With a CRI (color rendering index) of 95+, its LEDs are color balanced to a temperature of 5500 Kelvin and emit a very high spectrum of colors contained in visible light. For practical purposes, this means that color reproduction with the AHL-H100 comes close to that of daylight.

The ring light, which can either be mounted around a camera lens or to its battery pack to be used as a stand-alone unit, sports 100 LEDs which can be dimmed in their intensity. During both flash and continuous lighting mode, either the left or the right half of the LED ring can be activated, as an alternative to using the full array. In addition, the AHL-H100 can be used as an AF assist lamp.

The Amaran Halo AHL-H100 LED ring light is available now for a retail price of US-$ 49.
