Alongside the announcement of the RX100 III compact, Sony has today revealed a nugget of information that's going to have pro video and high ISO fans alike overcome with joy. The company has announced pricing and availability for the full-frame Sony A7S mirrorless camera, which it first unveiled back at the National Association of Broadcasters tradeshow in early April, and we're happy to say that it's more affordable than the rumor mill predicted. A *lot* more affordable.

Shortly after launch, rumors had it that the Sony A7S was going to cost around US$3,450, a price arrived at based on a brief product listing by a British retailer, and a comparison of Sony A7R pricing between the two countries. But it turns out that you'll be able to pick up the A7S and a lens to accompany it for that price, because body-only, it's going to cost just US$2,500. Yes, really.

The Sony A7S will be shipping soon, at a price you can almost certainly justify, if you're a professional videographer. If that isn't awesome news, well... we don't know what is!

With that news out of the way, we're sure you want to know when you can get your hands on one -- and the news there is good, too. You don't have long to wait at all, at least so long as you get your preorder in early. The Sony A7S will be shipping in the US market from July 2014!
