Sony patent shows off curved, full-frame sensor and accompanying lenses

A new patent from Sony, published March 19th, shows off what could very well be the schematics of the first full frame camera with a curved sensor.
Even the abstract of the patent is a bit complicated in nature, but in essence, it describes a full-frame image sensor that would allow future lenses to be more compact in size without sacrificing quality.
Sony didn’t just tease a nonexistent or single lens though. They’ve provided the full specs for multiple lenses. However, the specs shared aren’t likely what they’ll be advertised as, considering the mathematics involved.
Below are the specs of the lenses given with the expected measurements in parenthesis.
Full Frame
• 29.96mm f/2.06 (likely to become a 30mm f/2.0)
• 36mm f/1.85 (likely to become a 35mm f/1.8)
• 36mm f/2.85 (likely to become a 35mm f/2.8)
• 36mm f/2.26 (likely to become a 35mm f/2.0)
Crop
• 10.79–25mm f/2.8–5.4
Who knows how soon we’ll be seeing this technology in action, but it’s safe to say it probably isn’t too far off with a patent showing up. We’ll be sure to keep you updated with any further developments.
