In January, Polaroid announced the impending arrival of its Polaroid Zip mobile printer. Today, the Zip printer goes live, bringing Polaroid’s proprietary Zink (Zero-Ink) technology to the next level.

The Zip printer uses Bluetooth/NFC technology to crank out 2x3-inch color prints from iOS or Android devices. This is done through Polaroid’s Zink technology, which uses a small element to heat amorphochromic crystals embedded inside the paper.

Zip’s design takes queues from Polaroid’s iconic rainbow stripe days and blends them with a clean, modern form to fit in with modern gadgets. It measures in at 2.91x4.72-inches (7.4 x 12 cm) and weighs 186g (0.41 lb).

The device is charged via its Micro USB port and is capable of printing 25 photos on a full charge. The only physical button present on the Zip is its power button, which is hidden in the rainbow stripe band.

The Polaroid Zip is available for pre-order for $129.99 at B&H in both black and white.
