We don’t usually cover strictly local events, but since Publisher Dave Etchells attended an invite-only viewing of the winning photos the day before, he thought it would be nice to share with our readers.

If you’re in the NYC area, Canon is hosting a free gallery exhibition called ‘From Light to Ink.’ Winners of the Canon’s ‘From Unknown to Unveiled’ contest will have their work displayed in the one-day show, taking place today from 11am to 6pm at the Joshua Liner Gallery, located at 540 West 28th Street in New York.

Not only do you have a chance to see a wonderful collection of photography; you also get a close look at the kind of quality Canon’s ImagePROGRAF printers can put out. (If you haven’t had a chance to see what large-format printers like these can do, it’s pretty impressive to see up close and personal.)

Below is an image of just one of the contest winners and their winning print – sorry for your right arm being cropped out, Scott!

Captured by Scott and Shelby Hickenlooper, the photo behind the couple captures Scott as he seamlessly jumps over what looks to be incredibly smooth water. What it actually is is frozen water on top of a salt flat in Utah.

To see this print and many more, head on over to the gallery.
