With each new video, Ted Forbes of The Art of Photography impresses us with his thoughtful and well articulated insight. But in one of his most recent videos, ‘So You Want To Be A Photographer…’, he goes above and beyond, providing a very necessary commentary to a question and topic that is all too often misconstrued.

As the title of the video suggests, he takes on the question of how to make a living in photography. The 14-minute long video is carefully delivered, providing an honest, thoughtful conversation that doesn’t attempt to sugarcoat or entirely demean the reality of the photography world in its current state.

Rather than attempt to summarize the video, we’ll leave it to Forbes to just do his thing. Set some time aside and watch the entire piece. It’s worth every minute, whether you’re an up-and-coming photographer or someone well established in the industry.

We’re interested to hear your thoughts on Forbe’s discussion. Where do you think he hits the nail on the head and where do you believe his thoughts fall short of the mark? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
