Commercial photographer Chase Jarvis is back at it again with episode 6 of his ongoing photo tip video series, #cjRAW.

In this episode, which comes in at just over two minutes in length, Jarvis shares a simple, but important tip that can prevent a tragic incident that almost all photographers experience at some point in their career; having gear fly out of a camera bag because it’s not entirely closed.

It seems like a ‘duh’ piece of advice, but it’s something that happens all too often, pros and enthusiasts alike. While the video concisely covers the solution to preventing thousands of dollars of gear from falling out of your bag, Jarvis has summed it up in one simple statement:

There are only two states your backpack should be in when you set it down – open or closed and zipped.

Previously, we covered Jarvis’ tips for shooting in wet weather, so head on over and give that a look as well. To catch up on all past episodes and be the first to receive new episodes, head on over to Jarvis’ YouTube channel and subscribe.
