The weekend is here, and it's firmware time once more! This week, our Firmware Friday roundup includes news of updates for six cameras from Canon, Casio, Fujifilm, Phase One and Ricoh. One of these, the Fuji X-Pro2, we actually already covered earlier in the week, but the rest are all brand-new, and a couple of them include significant new features. Without any further ado, let's roll up our sleeves and get into the updates...

Canon EOS 5D IV

Canon's latest firmware update for the EOS 5D Mark IV actually landed just before our last roundup, but we didn't spot it at the time. Firmware version 1.0.2 for the Canon 5D IV makes just one change, according to the company's release notes. Communications reliability has been improved when using Canon's EOS Utility app to to register or update Digital Lens Optimizer information in the camera body. You can download Canon's firmware here.

Casio EX-FR100 and EX-TR70

Casio has two updates in this week's roundup, although again, one actually landed some time in September, but we didn't catch it until today.

The Casio EX-FR100 is now running firmware version 2.01 on the camera itself, and firmware version 2.00 on the controller. Together, these allow for a new multi-camera function, as well as for remote settings changes from Casio's EXILIM Connect app for Android or iOS. The initial date and time settings when the camera is first used or fully reset have also been updated, although Casio doesn't state precisely what this change entails. You can download the Casio EX-FR100 firmware here.

The Casio EX-TR70, meanwhile, is now on firmware version 2.00. Here, the sole changes are said to be improved performance in make-up mode, specifically when shooting in dark environments. You can download the Casio TR70 firmware version 2.00 update here.

Fuji X-Pro2

We've already covered Fuji's firmware update version 2.00 in a separate news item. For the full story on this update, click here.

Phase One XF Camera System

In a word, the Phase One XF Camera System Feature Update #3 is collossal. In fact, there are so many changes that if you're an XF shooter, you'll want to check Phase One's announcement on its website; we'll just hit the high points here. Changes include a new electronic shutter function, visual Flash Analysis tool, comprehensive in-camera support for Profoto's Air remote radio sync and control system including TTL flash metering support, a new menu with which to save or restore custom camera setups, and many other tweaks besides. You can download the Phase One XF Camera System Feature Update #3 here.

Ricoh Theta S

Firmware version 01.72 for the Ricoh Theta S is available for download from the company's website immediately. What it entails, though, we can't really say. That's because the release notes are perhaps the most brief we've ever seen, simply stating tersely that there has been a "Bug fix". You can download the update here.
