New Kickstarter ensures you never lose your photo gear again

If you've ever come home from a shoot only to find out later that you're missing a piece of your gear, you can certainly appreciate the sentiment behind a new product launched on Kickstarter. GearEye proposes to be "The Ultimate Gear Management System", using an RFID tracker, and adhesive tags applied to your precious items, to ensure that all your gear remains with you.

The system itself is small and functional: a small device acts as an intermediary between your smartphone, and RFID tags placed on your various items. You log the items into the app, and from then, the device is able to scan to determine if the items are present within a ten-foot radius. Instead of the device, you can even opt to use a smart cover for your phone. The GearEye app works on both iOS and Android devices.

The Kickstarter campaign is already wildly successful, with over $200,000 pledged towards a $60,000 goal, with just over a month remaining. If you'd like to secure your own GearEye system, you can pledge now at the $129 level, which puts you in line for the first devices to ship in July 2017.
