Nikon has just announced three new products at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas: the D5600, an update to the popular mid-range DSLR camera; the Coolpix A300, an economical camera designed to fit in your pocket; and the Coolpix W100, a weather- and water-proof camera with a friendly design intended for use by anyone in the family.

The Nikon D5600 is the latest iteration of the D5000 series, first introduced in 2009: it's the only design in Nikon's offerings that features an LCD that can swivel in a variety of configurations. The D5600 offers only minor updates to the line, adding Bluetooth and NFC connectivity to the camera. Also upgraded, the new AF-P version of the 18-55mm kit lens allows for smoother and near-silent focusing.

Set to be available in January 2017, the Nikon D5600 will be available in a variety of kit configurations, with the primary single-lens kit with the AF-P 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 VR lens coming in at a suggested retail price of about US$800. It will also be available in a two-lens kit option, including the AF-P 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 VR and AF-P DX 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3 lenses, for about US$1,150. The Nikon D5600 will also be sold as a body only for about US$700 or with an AF-S 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6 VR lens for about US$1,200.

Nikon A300

The Nikon Coolpix A300 is the latest in Nikon's longstanding Coolpix series. The A300 is designed to be super portable, weighing in at only 119 grams (just over 4 ounces) and featuring a 20-megapixel 1/2.3-inch type CCD sensor. The camera features an integrated zoom lens that provides a 35mm-equivalent field of view of 25-200mm, and offers an aperture range of f/3.7 - f/6.6. This model is intended for the social market, with built-in wireless SnapBridge support.

The Nikon Coolpix A300 is scheduled to be available in February 2017 at a suggested retail price of US$139.95.

Nikon W100

The Nikon Coolpix W100 is designed as an easy-to-use, waterproof and shockproof camera. Like the A300 and D5600, the W100 is also equipped with wireless SnapBridge support. The camera features a 1/3.1" CMOS sensor offering 13 megapixels, coupled with a lens that offers a 35mm-equivalent 30-90mm focal range. The W100 will be available in March 2017 at a suggested retail price of US$159.95.
