Beginning in May, Fujifilm will join numerous other camera manufacturers by offering professional support services. While some camera makers offer professional support services for a variety of cameras, Fujifilm’s service is exclusively catered toward owners of their new medium format mirrorless GFX camera.

The GFX Fujifilm Professional Services (GFX FPS) will cost $499 per year for qualified GFX owners. What makes a user eligible? They must sign up within 30 days of purchasing a GFX System product and those products must be registered within 30 days of purchase. You must reside within the continental United States and be at least 18 years of age. You must also own not only the GFX, but at least one GF lens, so users who are using adapted lenses instead of owning a GF lens are not eligible for GFX FPS.

Once registered to GFX FPS, you will receive a welcome kit and Fujifilm Swag Bag (the contents of which were not disclosed), personalized FPS card with dedicated hotline access, four Check & Clean Program Service vouchers, a 50 percent discount on additional Check & Clean Program Services, two business day turnaround for Check & Clean services, 30 percent discount on non-warranty repairs, two business day turnaround for non-warranty repairs and GFX system loaners for covered equipment while it is being repaired if the repair is expected to exceed two business days.

GFX Fujifilm Professional Services Registration is open now and services will begin on May 1.

With the Fujifilm GFX, Fuji is clearly targeting a professional market that it hasn’t necessarily tapped into with its X Series, although there are certainly many pros using Fuji X cameras. Hopefully there will be a professional service aimed at X series users at some point down the line, but in the meantime, Fuji is making steps to bring their professional support offerings up to par with other major manufacturers. For working pros, particularly ones who need access to their best gear all the time, it’s critical to have fast repair turnaround and access to loaners during lengthy repairs.
