The Fujifilm GFX 50S released earlier this year and marked Fujifilm's entry into the world of digital medium format photography. The storied company skipped right over full-frame and went straight to medium format. How is the company's new GFX system looking so far? We have the answer to that question now after performing our wide range of laboratory and real-world testing.

The Fujifilm GFX and its 51-megapixel sensor proved to deliver very good image quality across a wide range of ISOs, although it is not without its weaknesses. Autofocus performance, both in the lab and in the field, was sluggish at times but also very accurate, which is particularly important given the exacting standards of the sensor. This is certainly not a camera for shooting action, but that doesn't mean that it is frustrating to use, as the user experience is quite good.
