Hot on the heels of their PowerShot G1X Mark III announcement, Canon has announced that it has reached a pair of significant production milestones on the interchangeable lens camera side of their imaging business. Canon has now produced 90 million EOS series cameras and 130 million interchangeable EF lenses.

The 90 millionth EOS series camera produced was a Canon 5D Mark IV and the 130 millionth EF lens was a Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM. The Canon EOS system was launched in 1987 alongside the EF series of lenses, which was at the time the first fully-electronic mount system for autofocus film SLR cameras. Canon also has stated that it has continued to hold the number one share in the global interchangeable lens camera market for 14 consecutive years.
