Photographer Thomas Heaton recently headed to the beach for sunrise. As he discusses early in the video, it is very difficult to predict how conditions will be and how they may change at the beach ahead of time. You can find a composition you really like and then come back the next day and it'll be completely different. It's important to check tide charts, but even when armed with that knowledge, there are still a lot of variables to contend with.

During a single shoot at the beach, Heaton came home with two very different images. It's interesting to watch him work and scout the area for compositions. He often heads out with a plan, but in this case, he just went out and explored. Being able to be spontaneous can help you capture many beautiful images.
