Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM
8 out of 10 points and recommendedZoom range, ISI bought this lens with a 350D. Main reason for buying this lens was the range and the IS. The IS allowes me to take pictures I couldn't have made without it. The range makes it less necessary to change lenses.

5 out of 10 points and recommendedaperturebroken on my cameraI bought this lens with my 350D. I really like to have a large aperture lens, for this price seemed to good to be true.

Picture wise, it is very nice to shoot portrait with this lens.
The bad construction quality of this lens is one thing this lens is famous for, what i didn't realise this could lead to real problems. Two weeks age the plastic fitting on the camera broke, and i wasn't able to remove the lens. I just could turn it half of normal. On the internet i found a few other with the same problem.
Luckily it broke just after i returned from a vacation, i will be very very careful using it again after it is returned from canon service.
