Nikon 85mm f/1.8G AF-S Nikkor
9 out of 10 points and recommendedvery sharp, lightweight, great bokeh, internal focusinglack of VRI am using this lens on a D7000. This is a very sharp lens - even wide open. Very easy to carry and use. I love the ability to isolate subjects with this focal length and background blur. Focuses well in low light. Overall, one of Nikon's best lenses in this price range. My lens hood is solidly made - and needed when you are shooting towards the sun.

Shooting outside, images seem overexposed and I often need to adjust exposure compensation down a stop or two. -
Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD G2 SP
9 out of 10 points and recommendedExcellent build quality and handling, very reasonable price, minimal distortion and vignetting, fast and accurate focus, outstanding sharpnessA heavy lens to carry aroundI was fortunate to get an early delivery of this lens after returning another newly announced 24-70 because it was simply not very sharp. Tamron has really hit this one out of the park! The G2 version is very solid and well built. It focuses quickly and quietly on my Nikon D610 and focus is pretty accurate at all focal lengths. I expected excellent sharpness but when I did a series of tripod-mounted resolution test at different apertures and focal lengths, the results were amazing. Kudos to Tamron for designing and building a winner. This will become a VERY popular lens.
