Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor
8 out of 10 points and recommendedLarge aperture, compact, cheapnoneVery cheap lens, with good optical quality.

Lightweight, very large aperture, one of my favourite lens.
I use this lens whit film and digital bodies and the ony drawback is a little bit soft(and lowered contrast) wide open, but good from 2.8 to 4, and very sharp from 4 to 16, then diffraction may degrade the image.
very good for portrait with digital bodies. -
Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro
7 out of 10 points and recommendedlarge aperture, cheapsoft wide openi bought this lens(nikon mount) used and it works very well.

On digital bodies the focal range is very interesting, and whit 3 zoom lens(12-24, 24-70,70-200) you can have everything you need.
Mine is a little soft wide open(but still usable) with increasing sharpness stopped down.
Anyway, colors are better with nikon lenses. -

Mine works fine(not very sharp and contrasty, but still usable) from the wide end untill 200mm, then sharpness decline and it's very hard to use.
I use it only with digital bodies because on full format borders are very soft. -

Wide open this lens isn't a stellar performer but in good light situations(or high iso settings) is very sharp.
Color rendition is good.
Some CA at the wide end. -

Sigma 15-30mm f/3.5-4.5 EX DG Aspherical
7 out of 10 points and recommendedWide angle on aps sensor, sharpFlare and ghoting, distortionThis lens works fine on a digital body.
reviewed January 15th, 2007 (purchased for $250)
Sharpness is overall good, but is better to stop down a little(at least 1 stop).
Distortion is visible in most situations, but easy correctable with software.
The major drawback is flare and ghosting with evrery light source. -

Built quality is very bad.
A lot of problems with flare and ghosting, CA on a high level, barrel distortion at the wide end, light falloff wide open (untill f11), sharp only stopped down 2 stop.
