9 out of 10 points and recommendedInexpensive, VR, VR on/off and mode switches, fast focus, can shoot handheld at 300mm, lightweighta little soft at 250-300
Nothing better for the money. A bit soft at 300 but well worth the investment at present price. Great airshow lens. Some crop examples at https://goo.gl/photos/nx3nTuZPG2imWE8Y7reviewed October 23rd, 2016 (purchased for $550)
7 out of 10 points and recommendedRugged, decent IQ, nice focal range. No VR. Showing its age. Not up to anything beyond 14mp.
Got this as kit lens with my D-70. Still use it with D7200 with fairly good results. Fell down stairs at Yosemite at night and landed on lens (cap on) and broke portions of front thread off, still works as new. Rugged.reviewed October 23rd, 2016 (purchased for $150)
8 out of 10 points and recommendedWiiiiide. Great for confined spaces. Amazing perspective in right circumstance. Reasonably priced, considering. Long end fairly sharp.Easy to shoot your feet accidentally. Forget using it in low light. Distortion at periphery at 8mm but what would you expect? Not FX. Funky lens cap thingie.
Funhouse of a lens for dramatic effect. Allows shots likely impossible with most other lenses. Not a low-light lens - don't even think about it. Unmatched for carshow, airshow, nature shots where wide is what you want. long end fairly sharp.reviewed October 23rd, 2016 (purchased for $600)
