  • Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G DX VR AF-P Nikkor

7 out of 10 points and recommended
Good sharpness overall, especially at 55 mm. Close minimal focusing distance. Very compact and light. VR works fine. Focus is quiet, fast and accurate.
Some purple and yellow chromatic aberrations in the corners of the frame No VR switch on/off button on the lens tube. All plastic. High distortion at 18 mm

I purchased this lens to use as a light and cheap alternative to my other glasses when I work in the forest. It works perfectly on my D 7200 after a small micro focus adjustment. At 18 mm one needs to close the aparture with two stops or so to get good sharpness in the corners of the frame. In the frame center all is fine despite of the focal length end closure. Chromatic aberrations are easily corrected in Camera RAW. For practical purposes the lens is optically nearly as good as other much more expensive lenses (better than af-s 18-55 VR2) - unless you want to print very big size pictures...
