  • Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD SP AF

9 out of 10 points and recommended
Accurate autofocus Efective VC, sharp , price
    A bit heavy

This lens has low distortion , it's sharp wide open from 70-300mm edge to edge . Was going to buy the nikon version but bought this one instead and after using it for two weeks I have absolutely no remorse for going for it. VC is uncanny in the way it grabs whatever your focusing on and holds it . Its' new focusing motor USD is fast and more important accurate . Colors are very nice although a bit cool . It's almost silent with a very slight wirl sound when it's focusing. Highly recommended.

  • Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM

8 out of 10 points and recommended
Built , overall good sharpness , effective OS
Inconsistence in sharpness , prone to veiling flare , heavy

This is a nice lens . It's very sharp from 18mm-75mm with very low distortion. From 75 it is a bit soft at the corners but still sharp in center . at about 100mm it's soft again getting sharp by 135mm and at 200mm it's quite good for an inexpensive lens. It's built is remarkable for a lens at this price. OS system is very effective giving me about 2 or 3 stops .Colors are a bit warmish but that is very subjective in nature. This lens in some quarters have recieved a bad rap but I believe it's because of faulty quality control . Those that come out good are much more then good. I recommend this lens given the caveat that you buy from a reputable dealer that's willing to exchange the lens for another one . It's a very good walk around lens.

  • Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM

10 out of 10 points and recommended
Sharp , Built , fast in focusing , colors
    Distortion at wide 10mm

I didn't give this lens a 10 for image quality because I know there are better lens out there in the market but taking into consideration the price it's image quality is a super 10+ . It's very nicely built and looks expensive . It's HMS motor is virtually silent in operation and fast with good accuracy . Color rendition is very nice with good and gradual tonal transition . My copy of this lens is extremely sharp from 10mm to 20mm. It's borders are sharp also with just a bit of softness at edges only seen when you go 100% . At normal viewing it's almost invisible. This is a fantastic lens at a more fantastic price and it's the lens that most fun has given me . The perspective and aparent DOF this lens gives is awesome . If I would have to say something negative in it is that at 10 mm it has just a bit of distortion at the corners but if you learn to level it in shots the distortion dissapears . For the price this is a no brainer...Highly recommended.
