Samsung: Two new S-series digicams

21:13 EST - The Samsung S630 and S730 are closely related models, sharing basically identical bodies and differing mainly in sensor resolution.

The S630 offers a sensor resolution of six megapixels, and the S730 boosts this to seven megapixels. Preliminary specifications suggest that the S730, despite its higher resolution from the same sensor size, may offer a higher maximum ISO sensitivity of ISO 1000- versus ISO 800 on the S630 - but this spec is marked as "to be determined" and hence may change before release. Samsung: Beginner-friendly 7mpix digicam

19:50 EST - Marking the entry level point in its ramp of CES show digicam announcements, Samsung has revealed the new L700 digital camera.

The Samsung L700 features a Samsung NV-branded f2.8 - f4.9, 3x optical zoom lens with a fairly standard 35 - 105mm equivalent focal range. The L700 couples this with - you guessed it from the name - a seven megapixel CCD imager that yields a maximum resolution of 3072 x 2304 pixels. Samsung announces L73 digicam

19:22 EST - Among a whopping seven digital camera announcements at the Consumer Electronics Show, Samsung has revealed its new L73 digital camera.

The Samsung L73 combines a seven megapixel CCD imager and a Samsung NV-branded 3x optical zoom lens with a fairly standard 35 - 105mm equivalent focal range. For framing images, the L73 forgoes any form of optical viewfinder - increasingly rare on digicams these days - in favor of a large, high resolution 2.5" LCD display with 230,000 pixels.
