PRESS RELEASE: International Imaging Industry Association to Present 2003 Leadership Award to Friedrich Hujer Pioneer of Agfa-Gevaert AG

Hujer to be Recognized for Commitment to Digital Imaging Applications for Consumers

HARRISON, NY, February 24, 2003 - The International Imaging Industry Association (I3A) today announced that Friedrich Hujer, retired Agfa-Gevaert AG Group Board of Management member has been selected to receive I3A's 2003 Leadership Award.

Awarded annually since 1980, I3A's Leadership Award was instituted to recognize those individuals in the international imaging community who have exhibited the exemplary qualities and innovative vision of a leader. Previous recipients of the prestigious award include Philippe Kahn of Lightsurf Technologies (2002), Dan Carp of Eastman Kodak (2001) and Minoru Ohnishi of Fuji (1992).

"I3A is pleased to award the 2003 Leadership Award to Friedrich Hujer," said Lisa Walker, president, International Imaging Industry Association. "Friedrich's commitment to the convergence of analog and digital imaging for consumers has opened the door to a range of new and exciting imaging applications."

Hujer pioneered the digitization of silverhalide photofinishing in the early nineties when he developed a DPS machine for converting slides into prints, making Agfa the leading photofinishing equipment manufacturer in the world. With Hujer's vision, Agfa has assumed a key role in the marketing of digital photofinishing equipment and the convergence of analog and digital consumer imaging technologies.

The I3A 2003 Leadership Award will be presented at I3A's Spotlight Reception during PMA on Monday, March 3, 2003. For information and to attend, please visit http://www.i3a.org/events.html.
