OLYMPUS STYLUS 410 DIGITAL CAMERA BREAKS THE SOUND BARRIER

Premium All-Weather Digital Camera Now Offers Microphone and Speaker for Audio, Plus Faster Processing Speed and Computer-Free Printing

Melville, New York, February 12, 2004 - Olympus selected the Stylus Digital line to be the official cameras of Olympus Fashion Week in New York City because these models elegantly combine brains and beauty into a seamless package. The latest Stylus Digital to hit the runway is the Stylus 410, which adds an all-weather microphone and speaker for a brilliance that literally "speaks" for itself. The ultra sleek, chic and portable Stylus 410 Digital also incorporates a fine-tuned image processor for faster processing speed that ensures photographers never miss a beat, and the power of PictBridge™ technology to print out images quickly and easily without using a personal computer.

"When we introduced the Stylus Digital line last year, we transformed the best selling point-and-shoot film camera series of all time into a digital camera worthy of the Stylus name," said Jason Bortzfield, product manager for digital, Olympus America, Inc. "Now, with the Stylus 410 Digital, Olympus adds to the line with a camera designed to help photographers do more. It's faster than previous models and delivers brilliant images with sound, in any atmosphere."

Seeing - and hearing - is truly believing in this camera's combination of smooth curves and common sense. The 4.0-megapixel Stylus 410 Digital offers functionality with premium features and design elements that are synonymous with the Stylus brand name. Stylus film and digital cameras are renowned for being ultra compact, all-weather and easy-to-use - ideal for anyone looking for the best performance in a stylish and portable body that can be taken anywhere.

Stylus 410 Design Resists the Elements and Imitation
The lightweight and ergonomic metal body of the premium Stylus 410 Digital provides all-weather protection from the elements, so it's fine to take the camera outside in a downpour, on the slopes, on the yacht or in a blizzard. Rubber gaskets throughout the camera's interior insure that rain, sleet and snow can't stop the Stylus 410 Digital from taking great shots - get the camera wet, wipe it off, and keep on shooting.

Innovative
The Stylus 410 Digital's 4.0-megapixel CCD sensor is combined with an enhanced image processor called TruePic TURBO™ that significantly improves image quality and delivers faster overall processing speeds for rapid startup, shutter release and playback. TruePic TURBO allows the Stylus 410 to capture information from all 4.0 million pixels with pixel "micro-smoothing" that delivers clearer and more color-accurate photos, even at lower resolutions. Prints are big enough to crop and print up to 11" x 14" and larger.

Exciting
Now, with an all-weather speaker and microphone added for good measure, it's possible to record QuickTimeTM video and create short movies with audio that can be sent over the Internet to jealous friends, family and coworkers while on vacation in the tropics. Or take a still picture while narrating a personalized audio caption for the scene, and play images back later with sound to easily recall the names of exotic sites, famous paintings, and new acquaintances.

Stylish
With a clamshell lens barrier (pioneered by Olympus) and an artistic design inspired by the beauty of ocean waves, the Stylus line has won numerous awards and accolades such as being displayed at New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art.

No design detail has been overlooked in creating the Stylus 410 Digital. The camera has a sliding lens barrier attractively accented in silver and gold, and a champagne gold body that blurs the line between technology and artistry. Measuring an ultra-compact 3.9" long x 2.2" high x 1.3" wide, and weighing just 5.6 ounces, the Stylus 410 Digital delivers maximum portability and durability, and its sleek design means it can be taken anywhere to make a lasting impression and take great images.

Powerful & Intelligent
The Stylus 410 digital has a powerful seamless 12x zoom (3x optical zoom + 4x digital zoom) to capture amazingly sharp details and vibrant colors at distances near or far.

Olympus photos are known worldwide for vibrant, sharp and photo-realistic image quality. This is achieved with a host of key technologies including Olympus' high-quality all-glass lens (with aspherical lens elements) that's specially designed for digital cameras, and provides the equivalent of 35 to 105mm, f3.1 - f5.2 in 35mm photography. The Macro Mode allows users to take close up photographs to capture details like the wings of a butterfly.

Other controls include Digital ESP multi-pattern and spot metering; auto white balance; multiple flash settings and exposure compensation. The camera comes with a built-in flash that offers 4 settings to provide the widest range of options.

The Stylus 410 Digital utilizes the ultra compact xD-Picture CardTM memory media. The card's small size, about the same as a postage stamp, and an Olympus dedicated miniature Li-Ion rechargeable battery help keep the camera size down. It ships with a 32 MB xD-Picture CardTM and a Li-Ion rechargeable battery and charger - an incredible value.

Approachable
Thanks to the power of PictBridge technology it is now possible to print directly from the Stylus 410 to any PictBridge-enabled printer, like the Olympus P-10 Digital Photo Printer, via USB. Printing and sharing images has never been easier, and the P-10 uses photo lab-quality printing - dye-sublimation - to create archival quality prints rich in color and at a wide range of sizes.

Or, if users want to connect the Stylus 410 to a PC or Mac, transferring images with the included Auto-Connect USB (that does not require software drivers with most operating systems) allows for hassle-free image downloads. Images may also be viewed on a television with the included audio/video cable.

The Stylus 410 Digital camera offers advanced features with a point-and-shoot simplicity for flawless picture taking. For photographers who want optimum results in a wide variety of settings, 10 easy-to-use shooting modes are easily accessed through the camera's "Virtual Dial" to provide fully automatic exposure adjustments for Program Auto, Portrait, Landscape, Landscape + Portrait, Self-Portrait, Night Scene, and Movie, and now new modes including Indoors, Beach & Snow, and Cuisine.

The camera has an optical viewfinder as well as an easy-to-view 1.5" color LCD display on the back of the body for composing and reviewing shots. Menu navigation is easy to control with the push of arrow buttons

Smart Accessories For a Stylish Camera
Olympus delivers several accessories for the Stylus 410 Digital designed to allow digital photographers to do more with their camera.

Underwater Housing
With the PT-016 Underwater Housing a digital photographer can take the Stylus 410 Digital 130 feet below the surface of the water to capture breathtaking images of undersea life. This stylish and durable housing is for anyone looking to pursue underwater digital photography when diving, snorkeling or surfing - and it's also ideal for use during activities that call for ultimate protection from the elements such as skiing, fishing, sailing, or even in certain industrial situations.

The PT-016 is made of durable transparent polycarbonate with grips and levers fashioned out of distinctive red-colored polycarbonate. The transparent nature of the housing ensures that users can view their shots with ease, as well as show off the stylish bodies of their cameras. The housing features fluorite (FL) glass lens windows for greater clarity when shooting photos underwater. To reduce glare caused by sunlight on a digital camera LCD, the housing has an LCD hood located on the outside back of the housing that makes viewing the LCD easier above and below water.

Premium Imaging Kit
A stylish leather case, Li-on rechargeable battery and MAUSB-10 xD/SmartMedia Reader Writer are all available in one convenient package as part of the Premium Imaging Kit for the Stylus 410 Digital camera. Uploading images to a PC or Mac with the MAUSB-10 connected to a computer's USB port saves the Stylus 410 Digital battery by allowing images to be read off the xD-Picture Card outside the camera.

A leather case with belt clip is also available for the Stylus Digital line to keep the camera at the hip and ready for action.

Availability
The Stylus 410 Digital will be available in February 2004. It includes a 32MB xD-Picture Card™, Auto-Connect USB cable, Li-Ion rechargeable battery and charger, RM-2 Remote Control, Audio/Video Out cable, wrist strap, Olympus CAMEDIA Master Software, user manual and Quick Start guide.
