New versions of Nikon View, Scan and Capture programs support the latest operating system from Microsoft, and include other changes for Mac and Windows users...
Nikon Inc. has posted updates for its Nikon View, Scan and Capture programs on its support website which add support for Microsoft's latest operating system, Windows XP. Downloadable immediately, there are also a number of other changes for both Mac and Windows users as follows:
Nikon View 4.3.1 - Windows:
- Support for Microsoft Windows XP
- Macintosh:
- Changes to the Preferences dialog that allow the user to choose the window displayed when Nikon View 4 is started manually.
- Built-in viewer supports display of images created with the COOLPIX885 "Small Pic." function.
- Menu added to Image Transfer window to allow user to switch to the Thumbnail List window.
Nikon Scan 3.1.2 - Windows:
- Support for Microsoft Windows XP
- A single black line will no longer appear in images scanned at certain crop settings.
(SUPERCOOLSCAN4000ED and COOLSCAN IV ED only.) - Changes made to the analog gain settings will now be correctly reflected in the preview image when the Redraw button is pressed.
- With previous versions of Nikon Scan, if the software was set to save images to the hard disk immediately after scanning, CMYK images would be saved in TIFF format even if NEF was selected as the desired format. This problem has been remedied.
- Adjustments made using the white point slider in the LCH Editor's chroma editor will now be correctly reflected in the scanned image.
- Nikon Scan 3 can now be used to print CMYK images.
- When the autofocus value is adjusted using the focus tool, the value will no longer reset to the default value each time an image is scanned (SUPERCOOLSCAN 4000ED and COOLSCAN IV ED only.)
- The preview image will now be correctly displayed even if a different film holder is inserted following user setting registration. (SUPER COOLSCAN 8000 ED only.)
- Macintosh:
- A single black line will no longer appear in images scanned at certain crop settings.
(SUPER COOLSCAN 4000ED and COOLSCAN IV ED only.) - Changes made to the analog gain settings will now be correctly reflected in the preview image when the Redraw button is pressed.
(SUPER COOLSCAN 8000ED only.) - Opening the Nikon Scan plug-in in Photoshop will no longer cause the computer to crash when certain Photoshop features are used.
- The preview image will now return to its previous state when settings in the Unsharp mask palette are set to 2 or over and then cancelled.
- Scan time has been reduced for images scanned without using the LCH and Unsharp mask features.
- The display of histograms showing data from scanned images has been improved.
Nikon Capture 2.0.2 - Windows:
- The status of the Apply button (On / Off) will also be recorded when saving settings in each window.
- Nikon Capture 2.0.2 is compatible with Windows XP Professional/Home Edition.
- The extreme left-hand side of the image will now be correctly reproduced when and unsharp mask is applied.
- An error which prevents further use of the software will no longer occur when trying to register a camera with a dual CPU computer running Windows 2000 Professional.
- Macintosh:
- Nikon Capture 2 will no longer crash intermittently when the camera is connected to certain Macintosh computers including the iBook (Dual USB).
- The extreme left-hand side of the image will now be correctly reproduced when and unsharp mask is applied.
- Number after the decimal point can now be entered into the exposure compensation text box in the Advanced RAW window.
- New values entered in the Advanced RAW window tone compensation and color balance boxes, and in the Size / Resolution window will now be accepted without having to press the return key.
- In cases where values in the Size / Resolution window are altered and batch processing is then carried out, the dimensions of RAW images photographed with the D1X will no longer be incorrectly altered when Use current settings (Preferences dialog box), or Apply current settings (Batch dialog box) is chosen.
