Japanese manufacturer offers a peek behind the curtain at its upcoming digicam...

Minolta Japan has updated the macromedia flash presentations on both its Japanese and English-language websites promoting the upcoming digital camera which it has referred to only as 'X'. We first told you about X back on December 27th, and the new update scotches rumors we'd seen around the 'net that the camera would be an extension to the DiMAGE 5 or 7 cameras, or perhaps a competitor to SLR cameras from Canon, Fuji, Kodak and Nikon. A silhouette of the camera shown in the presentation indicates it is a slim, ultra-compact design. The text of the updated teaser follows:
"Coming soon from Minolta in January, 2002. A new ultra-compact digital camera. Next information on January 9."
Watch our news page as that date approaches for the full story on 'X'...
