Digital camera profiling software gets increased accuracy...

Mike Chaney, author of Profile Prism (a utility for creating ICC profiles to increase the color accuracy of your digital images) and Qimage Pro (the ever-popular imaging utility for editing and printing your photos) emailed today to let us know he's just released a new version of the former program. Profile Prism v1.7 improves the accuracy of the tone (brightness) curves and is now available for download to registered users.

Mike notes:
"A more accurate curve fitting algorithm is now used to generate the RGB tone curves in PP profiles, resulting in more accurate contrast in some cases. Depending on the shape of the tone curves for the device being profiled, the difference in contrast may or may not be noticable. In general, any differences will be small."
If you haven't tried Profile Prism before, we highly recommend it as a great way to improve the output from your digital camera or flatbed scanner... The software costs $69, and includes a color target sent by mail which you use to create the ICC profiles. We've found the program to be a great value and very user-friendly as well!
