Pre-production takes on Fuji's recently-announced digicams...

Our friend Steve Sanders at the Steve's Digicams website has today posted first-look previews of two new Fuji digital cameras. The FinePix F601 Zoom and FinePix S602 Zoom are 3.1 megapixel digicams with 3x and 6z optical zoom lenses respectively. Both cameras were announced last January, and are revisions to existing models - the F601Z following in the footsteps of the the Porsche-styled FinePix 6800 Zoom, and the S602Z being a follow-on to the FinePix 6900 Zoom which has an SLR-shaped body with an electronic viewfinder.

Steve doesn't draw any conclusions yet for either camera, but does have plenty of insights as to body design and control, as well as numerous sample images for both. The usual proviso that these are prototype cameras and hence image quality in these samples may not accurately reflect final production models does apply, of course.

When you're done with Steve's first-looks, you can find further info from the Digital Photography Review and Digital Camera Resource Page websites for the FinePix F601Z. You'll also find loads of F601Z and S602Z samples from Japanese magazine Miscall split across two pages on the "PXee" image sharing site... (Note that the second link contains images from both cameras.)
