Rob Galbraith discusses Canon print quality and the digital workflow...

Pro photographer Rob Galbraith, host of the excellent robgalbraith.com website, has today posted a news item noting that images from both Canon's sports-oriented EOS-1D and high-res D60 digital SLRs appear in the April 8, 2002 issue of Sports Illustrated magazine. In the article, he shows thumbnails of both images so you'll know which to examine, and details some of the process that got the images on paper.

Note that Rob says the D60 image has been downsampled, and unknown post-processing applied. It was also shot at the camera's highest ISO rating (ISO 1000) in JPEG mode under difficult lighting conditions. Hence, it may not be quite indicative of what the camera can best manage - but it's certainly still interesting to see!
