Sony Ericsson launches unusual campaign

Next time someone hands you their T68i cell phone and addon digicam to take their picture, you might just be on the receiving end of possibly the strangest advertising tactic ever...

A news item from Reuters details what has to the the most unusual advertising campaign we've ever heard of. Sony Ericsson is paying 120 actors and actresses in seven US cities to post as couples owning the new T68i cell phone and its addon digital camera. The 'couples' will approach people and ask if they can take a photo for them - then if they're asked about it, will tell you where the hardware can be bought and who makes it.

You might wonder just how few people 60 couples can talk to in a day, and how Sony Ericcson will get value for money with this strange campaign. We can only presume that they're hoping to get large coverage of their campaign in more traditional media outlets... What will they think of next?
