Lexar Media Announces JumpDrive 2.0 Pro in 512MB and 1GB Capacities with 40X Speed-Rating

Company Sets Benchmark for Portable USB Flash Storage

LAS VEGAS (CES, Booth #35093R), January 9, 2003 - Lexar Media, Inc. (Nasdaq: LEXR), a leading designer, developer and marketer of award-winning high-performance digital media and accessories, announces increases in both capacity and speed to it's JumpDrive 2.0 Pro. JumpDrive 2.0 Pro is the fastest member of the Lexar Media portable USB storage line, which enables users to easily store, carry and transfer files that are often too large to fit on a floppy, as is the case with many image, presentation and music files.

New 512MB and 1GB capacities will be available on JumpDrive Pro, in addition to the current 256MB, and the entire line is being upgraded to 40X speed rating from the previous 24X. The "X" speed rating is equivalent to 150KB per second read/write speed and the entire JumpDrive Pro line is capable of sustained read/write speed of 6MB/s. The JumpDrive Pro can transfer a three-hour Mpeg 4 movie in under three-minutes, while competitive products require approximately 20, which makes it the fastest portable USB flash drive on the market. JumpDrive 2.0 Pro products are compatible with USB 2.0 and backward compatible with USB 1.1 ports.

"These offerings showcase our industry leading technology which allows us to excel in products requiring high speed and capacity," said Doug Kellam, vice president of worldwide marketing, Lexar Media. "Capitalizing on Lexar Media's patented, high speed technology, we are pleased to bring to market large capacity JumpDrives with the tremendous speed customers need for today's multimedia files."

The expanded JumpDrive Pro line expected to ship in February 2003.
