Victoria, British Columbia, May 27, 2003 -- ACD Systems International Inc. (TSX: ASA), the digital imaging company, today announced the release of VideoGenesis, a fast video editing and video rotation software program developed by Magic Kite Software Ltd. with ACD's Software Development Kit (SDK). VideoGenesis operates as a plug-in to ACD's award winning
digital imaging software, ACDSee™, and will be marketed through ACD Systems' extensive sales and marketing channels.

VideoGenesis' key benefit is the speed at which it can rotate a video clip. The program also enables users to modify and save their existing videos using a series of effects, such as sharpen, auto-correction of color and exposure, and the application of sepia tone and oil painting effects. A preview screen provides users with a view of the video as it is being altered. Users simply have to:

  1. Download video clips from a digital video camera or the movie mode from a digital camera
  2. Select a clip to rotate (if necessary)
  3. Apply the filters
  4. Save
InfoTrends Research Group predicts that digital video usage will ramp up in 2003 as a result of the greater promotion of digital video and the products that enable consumers to capture, edit, and store digital video. Moreover, InfoTrends believes that digital video is in the spotlight as PC manufacturers continue to create new PCs that have powerful processors, enormous hard drive storage capacity and CD and/or DVD burners to work with large digital video files. (InfoTrends Research Group, January 2003)

ACD's SDK program allows partners to create cost effective digital imaging software solutions that extend the capabilities of ACDSee 5.0. Other participants in ACD's SDK Partner Program include HP, Canon, Sanyo, Kodak's Ofoto, Realview 3D, DNAML Pty., and Sausage Software. In addition, SDK partners have access to ACD's vast network of national and international users and over 33, 000 corporate users, including many Fortune 500 companies.

"ACD Systems' flagship product, ACDSee 5.0, is a recognized leader in the digital imaging industry," says Magic Kite president, Rod Olafson. "Through ACD's Software Development Kit, Magic Kite Software can offer a product that allows ACDSee 5.0 users an easy way to transform their video images."

Mike Zelen, ACD president and chief executive officer, says, "The popularity of other ACD imaging and video products, such as ACD VideoMagic, indicates the heightened interest with digital video and camera technology. Through the introduction of VideoGenesis, we are pleased to continue to offer our users innovative software solutions that can be accessed through ACDSee."
