PLEASANTON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 27, 2003--Visioneer, a leader in intelligent imaging solutions, today announced the newest addition to their Slimline scanner series, the Visioneer OneTouch(TM) 9320 USB color flatbed scanner. The new OneTouch 9320 USB is an extremely fast color flatbed scanner with the ability to scan up to 3200 x 6400 dpi in 48-bit color and has a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interface. It began shipping into retail stores last week and has a suggested retail price of only $149.99.

"We are entering an exciting time when technology can allow us to introduce a 3200 dpi scanner for only $150 when several years ago, pre-press scanners at this resolution were selling for thousands," said Murray L. Dennis, Visioneer's President and CEO. "The OneTouch 9320 also includes a built-in transparency adapter and film holder for scanning 1 negative or 1 slide at a time at the scanner's maximum resolution of 3200 dpi. This feature allows customers to scan and store their old negatives at resolutions comparable to specialized film scanners at a fraction of the cost. The scanner's high 3200 x 6400 optical resolution eliminates rough edges and captures the finest detail from originals."

The OneTouch 9320 USB is the next generation in Visioneer's Slimline scanner series and features 5 OneTouch buttons that are pre-configured for the most common scanning tasks, so users get great results within minutes of opening the box. It also features 48-bit output color and Visioneer's patented FlashBack(TM) Bi-directional AutoScan Technology. The scanner comes with a Hi-speed USB 2.0 interface that is backwards compatible with USB 1.1 ports.

Designed For Ease-of-Use

Visioneer's OneTouch scanners are engineered for both first-time and experienced scanner users. All Slimline scanners come with five buttons to scan, copy, OCR, email, and perform a custom task. The buttons are pre-configured at the optimal settings for these most common tasks; so first-time users can start scanning immediately.

Visioneer scanners with OneTouch technology are designed so that pressing one button takes the user all the way through the scanning task, not just launching the program.

Advanced users can quickly learn to customize the buttons for even more power. Simply holding down a OneTouch button brings up the scan setting interface, which the user can easily change to meet the needs of the task at hand. An avid photographer can easily modify the buttons to automatically scan black and white photos or scan directly into PhotoImpression.

Visioneer Scan Manager Pro Advanced TWAIN Driver

The Slimline scanner series is Visioneer's latest model to feature Scan Manager Pro, an advanced TWAIN driver with tools normally found only in high-end image editing applications. Visioneer's Scan Manager Pro includes multi-level zoom activated by rolling the mouse wheel, an eyedropper for selecting blackpoint, midpoint and whitepoint, response curve editing with dynamic histogram, hue and saturation adjustments and output scaling.

FlashBack Bi-directional AutoScan Technology Simplifies Tasks with Two Way Scanning

The Slimline scanner series uses Visioneer's patent pending FlashBack Bi-directional AutoScan Technology to simplify scanning tasks. With most scanners, the user has to click prescan and wait for the preview to appear on the screen. While the scanning head returns, the user selects what area to scan and the scanner must make a second pass to complete the final scan. With Visioneer's FlashBack AutoScan enabled, the scanner moves one way to prescan the image area quickly, automatically crops to the edges of the photo, then reverses direction and completes the final high resolution scan on the return trip. Visioneer scanners with FlashBack simplify scanning and save time by eliminating the second pass during autocrop scanning.

Abundant Software Bundle

The Visioneer OneTouch 9320 USB comes complete with ScanSoft's PaperPort 8.0 SE with built-in TextBridge OCR and ArcSoft's PhotoImpression 3.0. ScanSoft's award-winning PaperPort Deluxe software is the world's best-selling document and image management application that creates thumbnails of everything you scan allowing easy filing in color-coded folders. ScanSoft's TextBridge OCR allows users to scan printed text into their word processor without having to retype documents. ArcSoft's PhotoImpression is an easy-to-use photo editing and creative design program that allows users to edit and retouch photos, then add special effects or place them in cards, calendars, frames and templates.

The Visioneer OneTouch 9320 USB is currently available through Dell and will be available in early October at Office Max, CompUSA and other authorized retailers, computer super stores and online services, mail order catalogs and from Visioneer's web site at http://www.visioneer.com.
