PRESS RELEASE: InterVideo Unveils Mobile, Desktop Versatility of New Recorder Platinum 5 Software with Integrated WinDVD 5

Delivers TV, VCR, Camcorder, DVD Recorder/Player Entertainment to PCs, Laptops

FREMONT, CALIF. - February 11, 2004 - InterVideo, Inc. (NASDAQ: IVII) announced today WinDVD Recorder Platinum 5, the latest version of its award-winning digital video recorder (DVR) and DVD player combination software. Designed to provide PC users with the broadest range of entertainment options, WinDVD Recorder Platinum 5 delivers the highest-quality playback and advanced recording technologies in a single solution.

The new software can be used to record video captured from a camcorder, DV camera, digital TV set-top box or a VCR directly to DVD for immediate playback. The same software can be used for TV time-shifting capabilities and to schedule TV broadcast recordings. Features that have also been included are InterVideo Mobile Technology for battery conservation, Intel's Hyper-Threading technology for multitasking and a Movie Encyclopedia for online information. These features enhance the viewing and listening experience for both home and mobile users.

WinDVD Recorder Platinum 5 includes InterVideo WinDVD Platinum 5, one of the world's most popular DVD players, and InterVideo technology for viewing and recording TV programs with a PC. By integrating these technologies with InterVideo's unique direct DVD burning technology, the company cost-effectively delivers the entertainment options most wanted by consumers in one easy-to-use solution.

In addition to being able to watch recorded DVD and DivX videos at their convenience, WinDVD Recorder Platinum 5 users can take advantage of the software's TV time-shifting capabilities using InterVideo's leading MPEG technology to avoid missing part of their TV program if there is an interruption. They can pause the broadcast at any time, enjoy instant replays and edit recorded programs to delete unwanted segments. With the ability to record directly to disc, rather than having to wait while the video is buffered to the PC's hard drive, WinDVD Recorder Platinum 5 provides a low-cost replacement for a consumer DVD recorder. It can also be used to archive videos and to convert old home movies from VHS tapes to long-lasting CDs or DVDs.

New features that have been added to WinDVD Recorder Platinum 5 include:

  • Mobile User Support: New mobile technology helps users extend the battery when playing DVDs on Intel processor based-notebooks. The technology extends playback by selecting the cache size of system memory to improve drive power. Users can also prevent unexpected battery depletion by setting the minimum battery requirements for playback, giving them time to properly close applications. With Dolby Headphone support for all content, travelers can enjoy true surround sound on their headphones.
  • Expanded Audio Support: In addition to Dolby Headphone support, WinDVD Recorder Platinum 5 includes a broad range of multi-channel audio options with DTS, Dolby ProLogic II and SRS surround, and 7- and 8-channel sound card support. Movie encyclopedia: Using a searchable database of movie facts, the software detects the DVD that is playing and shows information on the movie, actors, director, etc. Movie Encyclopedia also allows users to add information to the database.
  • Hyper-Threading Support: With optimizations for Intel's Hyper-Threading technology, users can now watch DVDs while working on their computer or surfing the Web. This support includes Intel's recently announced Prescott processor.
  • MyPlayback Features: Ideal for creating personal playlists with audio tracks or video files from DVDs, VCDs, SVCDs and CDs. Favorite DVDs can be bookmarked and saved as a file (.bmk) that can be exported or archived. Users can also grab a screen capture of a cool image and save it as wallpaper or email it--perfect for showing friends favorite special effects. With WinDVD Recorder Platinum 5, users can also capture video from a DV camcorder via IEEE 1394 support. Files can be captured as AVI or MPEG files, and DV AVI files can be converted back to DV tape for archiving. DV camcorder playback control functions include fast forward, rewind and advanced seek capabilities.

Easy file conversion and support for CD, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW and DVD-RAM puts an end to the confusion about formats and compatibility. DVDs created with WinDVD Recorder Platinum 5 will automatically play on any consumer electronics player or recorder with support for DVD +/-VR and DVD Video formats. Broad compatibility gives consumers the flexibility to move their ideos from a PC to a TV or a laptop equipped with a DVD player or recorder.

Installed in minutes, InterVideo's next-generation WinDVD Recorder includes help menus to guide new users in mastering the software's dual-playback/recording functionality and broad feature set.

Pricing, Availability
Compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000, and XP, WinDVD Recorder Platinum 5 is available at InterVideo's web site, www.intervideo.com, in the U.S. and Europe for an MSRP of $99.00. Upgrades for existing users of WinDVD Platinum 5 and WinDVR 3 will be available for $39.95. Existing WinDVD Recorder users will receive free upgrades.
