For most digicams, the least splash of water or puff of dust can constitute a disaster of the first magnitude.

Sadly, this means lots of digicams get left behind when the family goes to the beach, boating, or even to the sandlot baseball game. Digicam makers have begun to address the situation though, and the 3.2 megapixel Optio 33WR (for Water Resistant) from Pentax is one of the latest water/dust-resistant entries in the digicam arena.

It's important to note that this isn't a water *proof* camera, but it's designed to stand up to the occasional splash, shallow dunking, or even gentle washing in the sink. In my testing, the 33WR proved itself to be a workmanlike performer, with good color, generally accurate exposure, and a surprising range of features for an inexpensive camera model. Throw in its water-resistant case design, and it made it onto my Dave's Picks list.

If you're looking for an attractively-priced digicam that will let you relax just a bit more when you hand it to the kids, you should definitely give the Optio 33WR a look. Check it out!
