PRESS RELEASE: Scalado Licenses Imaging Technology to Sony Ericsson

Mobile imaging application technology from Scalado enables new features in the Sony Ericsson K700 camera phone

Scalado AB http://www.scalado.com, a Swedish software technology company specializing in digital imaging for the Mobile industry, has signed a license agreement with Sony Ericsson. Scalado will license parts of its mobile imaging application platform CAPS, including a camera application enabling creation of panoramic photographs, to the Sony Ericsson K700 camera phone.

The Panorama function on the K700 will enable users to create high-resolution, print quality panorama photographs by capturing multiple photos into one large image. The user simply takes a photo, and then moves the camera slightly sideways and then takes additional photos. This can be repeated several times until the user selects to save the high-resolution seamless panorama image.

"We are very glad that Sony Ericsson has selected Scalado to deliver imaging application technology for their mobile phone K700. We have been developing CAPS during the last two years in order to meet the requirements from the industry", says Mats Jacobson, CEO at Scalado.

"Mobile imaging is a key area for Sony Ericsson and we are constantly bringing new and innovative features to our camera phones, thereby strengthening our leadership in this area. The integration of Scalados' CAPS is further expanding the many possibilities of the K700, offering consumers a unique mobile imaging experience," says Rikko Sakaguchi, Senior Vice President, Product and Application Planning at Sony Ericsson.

CAPS is a comprehensive digital imaging application platform that enables optimized functions for mobile imaging. The platform includes software technologies and framework to be used to develop mobile imaging applications. CAPS has been designed for mobile platforms with limited capacity, such as low processing power and memory along with bandwidth and storage restrictions. CAPS makes it possible to capture, manipulate and manage high resolution photos, providing many value add features for use on both advanced and constrained mobile phone platforms.
