We had so many great entries and stunning photos, picking the best was a real challenge. - But after due deliberation, our panel of judges delivered their verdict for first, second, and third place in our first monthly Photo of the Day contest!

We had so many great entries and stunning photos, picking the best was a real challenge. - But after due deliberation, our panel of judges delivered their verdict for first, second, and third place in our first monthly Photo of the Day contest!

Entirely without the benefit of touch-screen voting machines, the attention of thousands of pollsters, or the advice and learned counsel of hundreds of politcal pundits, our panel of judges reviewed all the Photo of the Day entries for October 2004, and came up with first, second, and third place winners. It was a difficult process, because we had so many excellent (stunning, actually) photos submitted by our readers. Fortunately, the final decisions were arrived at amicably, with not a single lawyer needed to decide the outcome. ;-)

First place went to Ray Young for his beautiful and clever inverted-perspective Puddle shot, captured with his Minolta DiMAGE 7i. Ray's prize is a Kodak EasyShare LS743 digicam.

Second place was captured by Jean Spector's whimsical Crowned Crane, which impressed the judges for the split-second timing it must have required, as much as for the great expression on the bird's face. (This was a laugh-out-loud experience for most of us, as we saw it for the first time.) Jean takes home a 512 MB memory card (Jean's choice of format) from Lexar, and a copy of FlipAlbum Pro from E-Book Systems..

Third place went to "Krusie's" beautiful Cheri's Plumeria, a stunning study in color and tonality. Krusie won a copy of FlipAlbum Standard, from E-Book Systems.

And of course, all winners received our gratitude for sharing their work with us, not to mention a permanent place atop our October 2004 POTD Winner's page.

Congratulations to all our daily winners from last month, and particularly to our three top monthly winners listed above!

Do you have a favorite photo? Share it with the rest of us! - Visit the entry page for our Photo of the Day contest and submit it for consideration. We promise: No pollsters will call!

(For those of our readers from other countries, who may find all the election-related humor above puzzling, tomorrow is the Presidential Election here in the US, and promises to be one of the most contentious in history.)
