Panasonic UK has launched three new digital camera models in the runup to the Consumer Electronics Show that have yet to appear on the company's US or Japanese websites.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LS2 updates the existing DMC-LS1 model in a more compact chassis, and is a five megapixel camera with a Lumix DC Vario stabilised 3x optical zoom lens, plus a 2.0" LCD display but no optical viewfinder. The Lumix DMC-LZ3 and DMC-LZ5 are closely related models that replace the LZ1 and LZ2, with improved ISO sensitivity, AF assist lamps, improved focusing speed, and a digital zoom function that crops the center portion of the CCD in reduced resolution modes. The LZ3 has a five megapixel imager; the LZ5 boosts this to six megapixels and adds audio recording capability, while both cameras have 6x optical zoom lenses.

All three new cameras will ship this March, and sample photos taken with each camera can be found in the Panasonic image gallery.
