CES & Macworld: A Tale of Two Cities

Newsletter editor Mike Pasini travels from Las Vegas to San Francisco, reflecting on CES and anticipating Macworld Expo. You might say he's gelling, too.

The Consumer Electronics Show was a Vista showcase in some respects, but off the show floor, Mike found the same old same old as vendors scrambled to make their products Vista compliant. Others, like Nokia, had some nifty little gadgets on display. Or at least they seemed nifty until the iPhone was announced.

But let's call a prototype a prototype, Mike says before revealing the guiding principle behind the new Apple Inc. in A Tale of Two Cities. It will clarify everything for you. Even how Nokia's 5-Mp camphone can be overshadowed by Apple's 2-Mp iPhone.
