Our friends over at the Digital Photography Review website are reporting that Fujifilm UK will soon start selling the latest variant of the "Big Job" ruggedized digital camera, long available in Japan.

The current Fujifilm "Big Job" model is the FinePix Big Job HD-3W, a six megapixel camera with a wide angle 28 - 84mm 3x optical zoom lens and a generous three inch LCD display. First announced in Japan back on December 7th 2006, the camera has been selling in that country for a little over five months now. Ideally suited for use on construction sites and the like, the Fuji HD-3W is rated as drop proof (70 centimeter drop), waterproof (JIS class 7, can be immersed to one meter for 30 minutes), and dustproof (JIS class 6, no dust can enter the camera). Thanks to these last two points, the camera also merits an IP67 international protection rating, as defined by IEC standard 60529. Controls on the Fuji Big Job HD-3W are designed to allow use when wearing gloves.

Pricing and availability for the Fuji HD-3W in the UK have not been announced. The official press release is not yet on Fujifilm's site, but can be found in the DPReview article.
