PRESS RELEASE: Fujifilm Announces the Release of New Workflow Management Software for the Retail Photofinisher as the Latest Advances for Expanding Frontier Solutions

September 16, 2008 - FUJIFILM Corporation is pleased to announce the latest version of its MS workflow management software and TS print order terminal software, which together represent the core of Fujifilm’s Expanding Frontier Solutions.

Fujifilm has recently been promoting its Expanding Frontier Solutions Strategy to address diversifying user needs in line with the progress of digitization of retail photofinisher. Fujifilm´s proprietary workflow management software combined with Image-IntelligenceTM technology makes possible compatibility with various output methods, such as inkjet printers, thermal photo printers, and Xerox printers in addition to Frontier digital minilab, with the same outstanding Frontier image quality.

  1. Release of new version MS Software As Frontier digital minilab being the core of the output printers, MS workflow management software affords quick and easy processing of digital image orders. It has also won favorable recognition for its superior quality printing, made possible through Image-IntelligenceTM, Fujifilm’s proprietary image processing technology.

The new MS software enhanced features shows significant improvement compared to the previous version of MS software. This new version supports an even wider array of devices. In addition to conventional specialized printers for photographs, including the Frontier digital minilabs and Fujifilm’s ASK thermal photo printers, this version is also compatible with the Xerox PhaserTM 7760 color laser printers as well as the EPSON Stylus Pro 7880 wide-format printers. The newly released Frontier Dry Minilab DL410 inkjet printer is also supported. Compatibility with these printers further extends the world of new printing services.

  2. Release of new version TS Software TS software, developed as the latest print order terminal software, will provide enhanced operability through a significantly improved GUI (graphical user interface), enabling customers to place orders easily at retail front.

Customer printing needs for retail stores are constantly changing. TS software will open up the ability to quickly respond; simply purchase plug-in software for TS to offer a variety of additional services.

The new software will support value-added sales campaigns such as, changing the display of the store logo, the presentation of a customized GUI unique to the specific shop, or promoting sales campaigns using coupons on the print order terminal, all accomplished quickly and effortlessly, facilitating the differentiation of services from other shops.

Value-added services such as printing jigsaw puzzles, mugs and T-shirts onsite require substantial investment. However, through the use of network server supported by Fujifilm, the TS software makes it possible to provide these kinds of service in collaboration with wholesale photofinishing laboratories. These services will be available in selected areas.

Also, the TS software, connecting with the upcoming Fujifilm’s network service software NS, will facilitate even more beneficiary operations that can be operated from the control center, such as managing the sales of individual franchise stores, customizing unique GUIs for specific shops and promoting sales campaigns on the order terminal, flexibly supporting the specific marketing efforts of different stores.

  3. Plug-in software series The new plug-in software series will offer optional value-added services for TS, and its open architecture will enable software vendors to easily develop their own plug-ins, making available a wealth of new ideas for new value-added services. Services currently available include: - Shuffle Print (printing service that shuffles and randomly lays out multiple images to print on a single sheet) - Stained Glass Collage (printing service that extracts major subjects from photos and produces a stained-glass window layout) - Folded Photo Greeting Card (two-fold greeting card with photos and messages) - Spiral Calendar (photographic monthly calendar with spiral binding)
