Hot Custom Photo Product Added Just in Time for the Holidays

Vienna, Va., Oct. 21, 2008 – Consumers of the nation’s largest retail pharmacy chain, Walgreens, will enjoy the in-store convenience of Lucidiom photo book creations just in time for the holiday season.  Photo books supplement the chain’s existing Lucidiom photofinishing options – prints, custom photo gifts and greeting cards – all powered by Lucidiom EQ software.  With more than 6,000 stores across the country, Walgreens is one of the nation's top destinations for photofinishing services.

“Walgreens is a digital photofinishing pioneer within the drugstore chain industry and they’re proving yet again they’ll continue to be a trail blazer by embracing the personal publishing phenomenon of the photo industry,” said Steve Giordano, Jr., Lucidiom president.  “Lucidiom has been delighted to work with Walgreens over the past several years developing software solutions to take the nation’s leading drugstore chain beyond the 4-by-6 print through custom photo gifts and greeting cards.  By offering photo books to the masses, Walgreens is taking it a step further, responding to the consumer’s desire to tell a story through photos.”

Giordano added that with Lucidiom’s photo book solution, Walgreens required no additional capital expense or hardware purchase.  Walgreens’ existing minilab will produce the photo books.  Lucidiom will continue to develop software solutions for Walgreens that reflect the consumer shift towards social expression or ‘social picturing’ that is sweeping the digital imaging industry.

“Photo books are one of the hottest custom photo products out there today and make one-of-a-kind holiday gifts.  Walgreens customers will be able to produce these unique memory-keepers with the added convenience of our high quality, same-day service,” said Walgreens divisional merchandise manager for photofinishing Mona Kelly.
