PRESS RELEASE: Sony UP-DR200 Photo Printers Let Tourists And Adventurists Capture Memories With Sharpshooter Imaging

Sony Professional Photo Printers Selected to Provide Souvenir Images for Millions of Resort and Entertainment Guests Each Year

PARK RIDGE, N.J., Feb. 3, 2009 – For SharpShooter Imaging, capturing memories for display in the frames and photos albums of the more than 22 million guests that visit 80 premier vacation and entertainment destinations each year is not to be taken lightly. To make each memory count, it looked no further than the Sony UP-DR200 Professional Photo Printer to create images to be enjoyed for a lifetime, as well as by generations to come.

SharpShooter, which serves as a concessionaire for attractions such as ski resorts, passenger vessels, dinner theaters, train excursions and theme parks, purchased more than 150 UP-DR200 printers in late 2008. It had previously used a variety of make and model printers and was seeking to standardize its imaging equipment.

“We immediately noticed a marked improvement in the consistency and color saturation in the images produced by this printer,” said Paul Laine, chief executive officer, SharpShooter Imaging. “It has also increased our speed and efficiency with features such as the front LCD display, which indicates the number of prints used, as well as those remaining on a roll of paper. This eliminates guess work by telling us exactly when we need to stop and reload.”

Laine said the function also enables the company to more accurately audit its inventory and monitor and gauge sales to determine its profit margin. This and its overall ease of use have made it the perfect solution for the company’s high-volume workload.

“It’s so simple to maintain and all of the functions are color coded,” Laine said. When capturing hundreds of images a day, it’s critical that our equipment is highly reliable and user-friendly. This printer helps us to ensure that guests receive their photos before they depart for the next theme-park ride or excursion.”

The Sony UP-DR200 launched in February 2008 as a compact, high-quality, high-volume and high-speed printing solution. The printer offers a front-loading system that can print a stack of 350 6x8 prints at 14.5 seconds per print. It can also hold 700 4x6 prints or 400 5x7 prints.

The UP-DR200 printer offers two types of surface finish – glossy or ProMatte™ – without changing paper or ink. High productivity features such as printing up to 450 4x6 prints per hour and high paper capacities provide a quick, easy on-site printing process.

The UP-DR200, with a suggested list price $2,195, offers significant cost savings and ease of use when compared to a $100,000 minilab.
