TOKYO, Japan, May 1, 2009 – Seiko Epson Corporation ("Epson", TSE: 6724) today announced its intent to actively support the Windows 7 operating system from Microsoft Corp. Epson has further advanced its products to align harmoniously with the various technologies in Windows 7, providing the richest experience yet of any of the Windows operating systems.

Developed with keen attention to user feedback, Windows 7 targets the enhancement of basic PC functions by incorporating a redesigned Windows Shell with a new taskbar, support for a more intuitive user interface through multi-touch support, an enhanced device and hardware interaction technology called Device Stage, and an easily constructible home networking system called HomeGroup, among other performance improvements.

"One of the key innovations in Windows 7 is Device Stage, which brings together the formerly independent features of Epson's multifunction printers into one location, allowing users to see device status and run common tasks from a single window, thereby providing seamless device usability. Also, a photo-realistic icon that represents their physical device further improves the ability to interact with Epson's multifunction printers. In addition, with HomeGroup, Epson's network-enabled wireless printers are made readily available to the user, while being protected by dependable security measures. The Windows Rally program has really allowed Epson to focus on making the most of Windows 7's advanced device management and networking features, and optimizing the user experience," explained Ikuaki Kitabayashi, General Manager of Epson's Planning and Design Department.

Epson continues to pursue ways to support the various technologies offered in Windows 7. The adoption of such rich features has been observed at WinHEC*1 keynotes and sessions.
